After much hemming and hawing, much prep work, and many revisions, I have finally published The Affix on Amazon.
What’s it about, you ask? It’s about what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable cynic. A jewel that warps probability is forced onto an ordinary guy whose main priorities are keeping his friends alive and getting on with his life. Villains come out of the woodwork to get the gem. Chaos ensues. Even worse, order ensues.
Although I think of the book as sci-fi in a classic Twilight Zone kind of way, I’ve classed it as urban fantasy and crossposted it under paranormal fantasy as well. Strictly speaking, the book is technically low fantasy (regular world, everything out of the ordinary doesn’t belong), but Amazon doesn’t explicitly have a genre for that.
Friends and especially family please take note: This book is a significant departure from my earlier work in that the characters swear more often. It was appropriate to the story and I don’t feel it’s excessive, but I’m just putting that out there. There’s nothing in the book I wouldn’t have been trusted to read as a teenager.
Shortly it will be time to expand the cover to a full wraparound for the print edition. Fortunately I expect the print formatting to go a lot smoother this time around, since I have all the tools setup. Re-rendering that cover is gonna be a minor headache, though.
